The expiry of your university e-mail account depends on your status. Closure may begin within months of being marked inactive by PGME, but it could be delayed if you have another active status within the university.
After completing your program, you are eligible for the U of T Alumni email service, allowing you to retain an email account if you choose. Please see Alumni Services for more information.
Letters and Documentation
- Will PGME complete provincial and federal student loan deferral forms?
Yes. The Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) office will process provincial and federal student loan deferral forms for postgraduate learners. Completed loan deferral forms should be emailed to postgrad.med@utoronto.ca for processing. - Where can I get a Letter of Good Standing or Verification of Training Letter?
A Letter of Good Standing or Verification of Training Letter must be requested directly from your training program. Please contact your training programs office directly. - Does the PGME office issue a Verification of Training Letter?
Effective January 1, 2026, PGME will discontinue issuing Verification of Training letters.
Most verification requests require confirmation of training completion and performance information, which is most accurately maintained by programs. As a result, all learners and third-party organizations will be directed to the program or department where the training was completed. This change improves accuracy, consistency, and response times and it aligns the University of Toronto with practices at other Canadian institutions.
