MedEd Staff Committees
Welcome to the MedEd Staff Committee Sign-up!
We're excited to invite new members who are interested in engaging and improving the Staff Experience.
Each subcommittee meets approximately once a month for a one-hour working session. Staff members from across the Medical Education Portfolio work together to improve access to Professional Development, meaningful day-to-day Engagement, opportunities for Staff Recognition, and promote clear and effective Communication.

Terms of Reference
Professional Development Subcommittee
Purpose:
The Development Subcommittee is dedicated to identifying, designing, and promoting professional development opportunities tailored to the unique needs of administrative and professional services staff within the medical education portfolio. The subcommittee aims to foster continuous learning, skill-building, and career growth to support staff in their roles and enhance organizational effectiveness.
Objectives:
- On an ongoing basis, assess the professional development needs of staff across the medical education portfolio through surveys, focus groups, and consultations.
- Develop and implement learning opportunities aligned with strategic priorities and operational needs, such as communications, project management, technology training, and equity, diversity, indigeneity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIIA).
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programming reflects best practices and avoids duplication of efforts.
- Contributes to the annual MedEd professional development conference.
Goals:
- Deliver at least two new or updated training programs annually that address identified staff development needs.
- Establish a best practices framework for professional development and equitable access
- Foster partnerships with relevant stakeholders to expand available learning resources.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of development programs through participant feedback and measurable outcomes.
Engagement Subcommittee
Purpose:
The Engagement Subcommittee focuses on creating initiatives and programs to foster a sense of community, collaboration, and belonging among administrative and professional services staff within the medical education portfolio. The subcommittee works to enhance staff satisfaction and alignment with the mission and goals of the portfolio.
Objectives:
- Develop strategies to build stronger connections among staff across different units and teams.
- Organize portfolio-wide events, such as team-building activities, and networking opportunities
- Gather feedback from staff to inform engagement initiatives and ensure alignment with their needs and preferences.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and collaboration through targeted activities and programs.
- Contributes to the annual MedEd professional development conference
Goals:
- Host at least two engagement-focused events annually.
- Engage with and build-up on local events
- Partner with the communications subcommittee to highlight engagement opportunities and success stories.
- Develop a toolkit for team leads to support engagement practices within their units/office locales.
Recognition Subcommittee
Purpose:
The Recognition Subcommittee is committed to developing and implementing initiatives that celebrate the achievements, contributions, and milestones of administrative and professional services staff within the medical education portfolio. The subcommittee aims to foster a culture of appreciation and motivation.
Objectives:
- Promote, create and implement existing and new inclusive staff recognition programs to celebrate accomplishments and milestones.
- Recommend and support initiatives such as awards, public acknowledgments, and peer recognition systems.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure recognition efforts align with organizational values and priorities.
- Promote transparency and inclusivity in recognition practices (best practices).
- Contributes to the annual MedEd professional development conference.
Goals:
- Launch a portfolio-wide recognition program and/or encourage use of existing recognition platforms.
- Celebrate staff achievements quarterly through newsletters, events, or other communication channels.
- Develop criteria and processes for new recognition awards aligned with organizational values.
Communication Subcommittee
Purpose:
The Communication Subcommittee is tasked with ensuring clear, consistent, and effective communication across the medical education portfolio to enhance awareness, understanding, and participation in staff-related initiatives.
Objectives:
- Develop and maintain communication strategies to support the dissemination of information related to staff development, engagement, and recognition initiatives.
- Create standardized tools and templates to streamline internal communication.
- Act as a liaison between the advisory committee, subcommittees, and staff to ensure transparency and two-way communication.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and recommend improvements.
- Contributes to the annual MedEd professional development conference.
Goals:
- Quarterly newsletter or communication update highlighting subcommittee activities and initiatives.
- Evaluate the development of a centralized communication hub or platform to improve access to resources and information.
Staff Conference Planning Subcommittee
The Staff Conference Planning Committee gets to lead the planning and organization for this annual event, bringing the community together! We meet monthly and then more frequently as the conference date approaches.
