PGME Welcomes Four New Faculty Leads

PGME is pleased to welcome four new faculty leads in the areas of Assessment, Internal Review – Family Medicine, Internal Reviews – PGME, and Internal Reviews, Royal College Programs.

 

Julie Johnstone – Faculty Lead, Assessment

The PGME Faculty Lead, Assessment, is responsible for the overall strategic planning, design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of assessment (learner and faculty) in PGME. The role will collaborate with program directors, vice chairs education, education scientists, and the PGME executive to develop, implement and support processes related to PGME assessment. This includes best practices for assessment tool design, assessment processes, competence committees, appeals, and remediation.

Dr. Julie Johnstone is an Academic Clinician at the Hospital for Sick Children. She currently holds the roles of Director of Assessment and Special Projects for the Core Pediatric Residency Program and Director of Education for the Division of Pediatric Medicine.

 

Dr. Julia Alleyne – Faculty Lead, Internal Review– Family Medicine

The PGME Faculty Lead, Internal Review Committee (IRC) – Family Medicine is responsible for providing strategic input into the accreditation and internal review process for PGME Family and Community Medicine programs. The Faculty Lead is responsible for providing advice and guidance to Family and Community Medicine programs and sites on action plan development, accreditation documentation development and to help foster a mindset of accreditation as a continuous improvement process.

Dr. Julia Alleyne is an Associate Professor with the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) and completed her MSc(CH) in 2008 with a focus on health professional education. Within the DFCM, she has been involved in residency training as a clinical teacher, program lead for Sports and Exercise Medicine, program director for Enhanced Skills training, and associate director for Academic Fellowship and Graduate studies. Dr. Alleyne is affiliated with Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network.

 

Dr. Hemen Shukla – Faculty Lead, Internal Reviews, PGME

The PGME Faculty Lead, Internal Reviews, provides strategic input and support for the accreditation and internal review process for PGME programs and the institution. While promoting a mindset of accreditation as a continuous process, they will organize and facilitate training to support programs through accreditation developments including Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), accreditation standards, CanMEDS 2025, and directions or mandates from governing/regulatory bodies.

Dr. Hemen Shukla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Staff Family Physician at Women’s College Hospital.

 

Dr. Mark Rapoport – Faculty Lead, Internal Reviews – Royal College Programs

The PGME Faculty Lead, Internal Reviews – Royal College Programs, is responsible for providing input into the accreditation and internal review process for PGME programs. He will participate as an internal review team lead and will advise on the development and revision of guidelines and procedures relating to accreditation while fostering a mindset of continuous improvement on the accreditation process. They will organize and facilitate training to support programs through accreditation developments including Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), accreditation standards, CanMEDS 2025 and directions or mandates from governing/regulatory bodies.

Dr. Mark Rapoport is a Professor in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and serves as Program Director for the Geriatric Psychiatry Subspecialty.
