External Transfer Request Process - Current Learners
PGME will email all currently registered residents in December; this will be sent to your email address in POWER. Residents will be required to submit the below by March 31st:
- A confidential survey to declare which programs/schools they would like to be considered for
- Personal Statement/letters of intent (1 page)
- Up to date Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Letters of intent must be provided for each program/school you are requesting and should be combined as one document with your CV. Incomplete packages will not be accepted or forwarded to programs for consideration.
As part of the Association of Faculties of Medicine in Canada (AFMC) transfer guidelines , PGME is required to confirm your current standing with the University of Toronto (good standing or currently undergoing formal remediation) and submit all ITARs. By submitting the request to transfer, you are agreeing to these terms.
Note – this survey is confidential and will not be shared with your current program.
Once eligibility is confirmed, UofT will provide your name, current program, level, email address and the program you are wishing to transfer to for each institution you have applied to after the second iteration. If an Institution/program has capacity and is interested in pursuing your application, they will request that PGME provide your personal statement/letter of intent, CV, ITARs and confirmation of standing as a first step. Programs will contact you directly to arrange an interview and possibly ask for additional information (for example reference letters).
