Internal Transfer Request Process - Current Learners
PGME will email all currently registered residents in December; this email will be sent to the email address listed in POWER. Residents interested in being considered for a transfer must submit the following by the deadline in January:
- A confidential survey to declare which programs they would like to be considered for (to a maximum of 5 programs),
- Personal statements/letters of intent (maximum 1 page in length)
- An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Personal statements/letters of intent must be provided for each program you are requesting and should be combined with CV as one file. Incomplete packages will not be accepted or forwarded to programs for consideration.
Important Note – this survey is confidential and will not be shared with your current program.
Once eligibility is confirmed, programs will be provided with each candidate’s:
- First & Last Name
- Email Address
- Current Program
- PGY Level
- Personal Statement/Letter of Intent
- CV
Candidates must meet the receiving program’s admissions standards. If a receiving program has capacity and are interested in considering your application, they will contact you directly to arrange an interview. Please note some programs may request additional documentation for review (e.g. reference letters, ITARs) before deciding to interview.
After the receiving program’s selection process has been completed, the program will submit a confidential rank order list to PGME for consideration and review of funding capacity. Programs are not permitted to make offers directly to candidates. All decisions will be sent directly from PGME to the candidates by the end of March.
