Postgraduate learners play an important role in shaping medical education at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine (TFOM). Each year, we invite residents and fellows to apply for committee participation across TFOM, PGME, and the MD Program. This is an opportunity to contribute your voice, share your perspective, and help inform decisions that impact education and training. Below is an overview of the process.
At the start of each academic year, a Call for Participation is sent via email to Program Directors (PDs), Fellowship Directors (FDs), and Family Medicine Program Directors (FM PDs) within TFOM, inviting postgraduate learners to join various committees within TFOM, PGME, and the MD Program. Programs then distribute this Call to their respective residents and fellows.
The Call for Participation includes a link to information on the description of each committee, the number of residents or fellows needed for each, and details on how to apply through an online survey.

Once the application deadline has passed, committee leads and committee coordinators are provided with the application packages of learners who have ranked their committee for review.

Upon selecting a candidate, approval is required from their PD/FD to ensure agreement with the learner's participation on the committee. Once PD/FD approval is confirmed by the central PGME office, successful applicants are notified via email by early September of the academic year. Candidates who are not selected receive a notification of decline.
All applications remain on file for the academic year, and residents and fellows may be contacted for further opportunities as they arise.
