University of Toronto Residency Programs will be provided with Internal Transfer Requests for review.
Programs will contact applicants directly if additional information if required for their file review (i.e. evaluations, reference letters, etc.) and interviews (if applicable).
Candidates who have requested to be considered for an Internal Transfer will be informed of decisions (by PGME) in March.
CaRMS opens for the 2nd iteration of the R-1 Match. Residents in current PG positions can access the 2nd iteration of CaRMS as a way to change programs or specialties.
Deadline to submit interest for an external transfer and required documentation: March 31, 2026 at 11:59PM (ET)
All programs in Canada will begin reviewing external transfer requests following the second iteration Match day. Candidates successful in the 2nd iteration, you will be removed from the external transfer process.
If a program/school is interested in moving forward with your candidacy, they will contact you at the email address provided on the external transfer request.
