Learner Resources - Up-to-date Access and University Resources

Yes, once your registration is completed with the Postgraduate Medical Education Office, you will have access to UpToDate as part of your library access. If you have a personal subscription that has expired, you can still access UpToDate for free as a current U of T learner. Please note that UpToDate access will end once you are no longer registered with PGME or actively training. - How do I obtain a University of Toronto student Card (TCard)?
To obtain a TCard, you must complete all registration requirements. Please visit UofT Library for more information. - When does my University of Toronto (U of T) email expire?
The expiry of your university e-mail account depends on your status. Closure may begin within months of being marked inactive by PGME, but it could be delayed if you have another active status within the university.
After completing your program, you are eligible for the U of T Alumni email service, allowing you to retain an email account if you choose. Please see Alumni Services for more information.
Letters and Documentation - Letters of Good Standing and Verification
- What is the difference between a Letter of Good Standing and a Verification Letter?
A Letter of Good Standing is a detailed evaluation issued by the program that includes information about a learner’s performance, academic qualifications, skills, any remediation or probationary periods, disciplinary actions, and overall character.
A Verification Letter, on the other hand, is a factual document that only confirms the dates and duration of the learner’s training as recorded in the POWER registration system. It does not include performance or behavioral details and is typically used for licensing, certification, or other administrative purposes. - When should I request either a Letter of Good Standing or Verification Letter?
Request a Letter of Good Standing when you need a comprehensive assessment of your qualifications, such as for job applications, transfers, or credentialing processes. The request should go to your training program. For a complete list of residency and clinical fellowship programs, please visit our website.
Request a Verification Letter when you only need confirmation of your training dates and completion for administrative purposes like licensing or certification. Please contact pgme.verification@utoronto.ca to request a verification letter. Please note that our standard processing time is 2-5 business days.
