Dr. McDonald-Blumer is a Clinician Educator within the Department of Medicine/Division of Rheumatology. Her leadership roles in education have included being Program Director for the Rheumatology and the Internal Medicine programs at the University of Toronto where her area of interest focused on curriculum development. Recent work has included leading the Department of Medicine with its roll – out of Competence by Design across 17 of its 21 programs. Roles within our postgraduate office include contributions to the Internal Review Committee and the Board of Examiners. Heather has worked with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in multiple roles including leaderships roles on Examination Boards and Specialty Committees and a member of multiple accreditation teams.
In recognition of educational contributions, Dr. McDonald-Blumer has been awarded the Royal College Program Director of the Year Award, the Canadian Rheumatology Association Teacher/Educator of the Year Award, and the Department of Medicine Teaching Award.
