POWER Help- Teachers - Effectiveness Score (TES) Report

work in progress-see POWER helpsite for info

The Teachers’ Effectiveness Score (TES) report that is available via University of Toronto’s POWER (Postgraduate Web Evaluation & Registration) system, is an aggregated report of completed teaching evaluations of each teacher. The evaluations are completed by UofT learners who have been supervised by the teachers, at anytime during their postgraduate clinical or research rotations.

Teachers must have an active POWER Teacher account in order for them to be evaluated by the postgrad UofT learners.

Teachers can only have access to their TES reports via their POWER menu, once the postgraduate programs enable this function for their teachers. Some programs open this option for a limited time throughout a training session, while other programs enable this once a training session is over. This is to ensure, especially for smaller programs, that the teaching evaluations are kept anonymous, and it is not easy to identify the learners.

In POWER, the menu option Effectiveness Score indicates that the TES is available for the teacher. It is up to the program (that setup the Teacher account) to inform their teachers if this function has been made available to them as the POWER system does not notify teachers of it.

A TES report is generated when the teacher has the minimum number of completed teaching evaluations per Training Session. If there are not enough completed evaluations, then the following message will appear for the teacher.

However, teachers also have the option to merge their TES reports in case they do not have enough in one training session, or for promotional purposes require a TES report of evaluations completed in the, for example, last five years. Teachers can merge their evaluations from the last 2 to 25 years.

The TES report will look like this. Note that the report is based on the evaluation form used to complete the teaching evaluation. The system can only aggregate evaluations using the same form. If different teaching evaluation forms were completed, then TES reports of each form will be calculated and appear separately in the report.
