- What is the Toronto Hospitals’ Postgraduate Payroll Association (THPPA)?
THPPA is the paymaster responsible for processing the payroll for most postgraduate medical residents at the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine. It ensures you receive your salary and extended health care and dental benefits as outlined by the Ministry of Health or other funding sources. - What if I have questions about the PARO/CAHO Agreement?
The current PARO/CAHO Agreement, which includes the annualized scale of remuneration, is available at http://www.myparo.ca/. Employment/Salary Verification Letters
- How do I request an employment or salary verification letter?
For New Residents: E-mail your request to pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca. The letter requested will be processed within 2-5 business days and e-mailed to you directly. Please only follow up if the processing time has passed.
For Returning Residents: A salary verification letter can be accessed via your dayforce Powerpay Self-Service account using a web browser, it cannot be requested from the dayforce Powerpay Self-Service mobile app.
Login to your dayforce Powerpay self-service account. If you need assistance with your login information, please contact pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca.
Access the Payroll Details page - Profile & Settings menu - select Payroll Details - Click the request button.

- How do I enroll for payroll as a new resident?

dayforce Powerpay is a payroll and HR software solution for Canadian businesses. New residents will use dayforce Powerpay self-service feature which includes paystubs, T4 statements. - I missed the initial dayforce Powerpay self-service sign up. How can I register?
Contact pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca to receive a new registration link. The new registration link will be sent within 2-5 business days. - How do I access my paystubs and T4 statements?
Login to your dayforce Powerpay self-service account. If you need assistance with your login information, please contact pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca- Learners can access T4 statement through the dayforce Powerpay Self-Service app.
- I forgot my dayforce Powerpay self-service password. How can I reset it?
Email pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca to receive a password reset link. The password reset link will be sent within 2-5 business days. - What is my employee ID for dayforce Powerpay self-service?
Your employee ID is your 8-digit trainee number, you can find your trainee number in your POWER account (format: 202*****) in your initial view page. If further assistance is required, e-mail pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca
Extended Health Care and Dental Benefits
- When and how can I access the POWER system to sign up for extended health care and dental benefits?
The POWER learner registration portal will open in mid-April. Please see details on our website under “Extended Health Care and Dental Benefits Sign-Up (Online via POWER)” - How do I add dependents to my Manulife plan?
E-mail pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca with your dependent’s full name, date of birth and gender identity to add them to your plan. - Who provides our extended health care and dental benefits?
Manulife administers extended health care and dental benefits for residents funded by the Ministry of Health. - How do I obtain my Manulife benefit card?
Once you are fully registered with the PGME office, Manulife will mail a physical benefits card to your mailing address. It may take a few weeks for the card to arrive. While waiting for your card (available in August), you can still submit service or prescription receipts to Manulife for reimbursement. If you need an electronic copy or haven’t received your card, email pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca
Personal Information Updates
- How do I update my home or mailing address?
To update your home/mailing address, log into your POWER account, followed by an email to pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca to update your Manulife extended health care and dental benefits information. - How do I update my banking information?
Submit either a direct deposit form from your banking institution or void cheque to the PGME Form Site. Your banking information will be processed and updated within 2-5 business days. E-mail pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca informing us of the upload/change or for further assistance.
Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) and Tax Documents
- How do I get a letter confirming union or professional dues for the CRA?
Email pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca with the relevant tax year, and you will receive a letter within 2-5 business days. - How do I get a letter for CRA about my moving expenses?
Email pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca, and you will receive a letter within 2–5 business days. - Where can I find the current tax year TD1 (federal and provincial) tax form?
The current TD1 tax forms can be found via the CRA website (TD1 and TD1ON) as fillable forms. Once completed save the forms and upload the forms to the PGME Form Site.
How do I update my current TD1 (federal and provincial) tax forms?
Submit your updated TD1 (federal and provincial) current tax year forms to the PGME Form Site. Your updated TD1 tax forms will be processed and updated within 2-5 business days. Email pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca informing us of the upload/change or for further assistance. - How do I reduce my tax deductions at the source?
Submit a completed T1213 form Request to Reduce Tax Deductions at Source to CRA. Once approved, forward the CRA approval letter to pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca for payroll adjustments.
Sun Life Group Life Insurance Beneficiary Nomination Form
- When will I receive the Sunlife Beneficiary Nomination Form for life insurance coverage?
The Sunlife beneficiary form will be sent via Docu-Sign to your registered e-mail in POWER in mid-April to be signed electronically. - I have not received the Sun Life Beneficiary Nomination form?
Email pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca to resend the DocuSign link for the SunLife beneficiary form. - What is my Member ID Number when filling out the Sun Life Beneficiary Nomination Form?
Your Member ID Number is your Social Insurance Number (SIN). - My Sun Life Beneficiary Nomination Form and payroll forms (TD1 tax forms/Void Cheque or Direct Deposit Form) are pending completion in POWER. How do I complete my registration so that I am fully registered with PGME?
Ensure you've completed the DocuSign Sun Life Beneficiary Nomination Form and upload your TD1 tax forms (Federal and Provincial) along with your void cheque or direct deposit form to the PGME Form Site. If you have submitted all documents and the 2-5 business day processing time has passed, please contact pgme.payroll@utoronto.ca for assistance.
