UTORid & TCard Activation
Overview
The UTORid is a permanent University of Toronto credential issued to learners, faculty, and staff. It grants access to campus-wide services and resources. For PGME learners, UTORid activation is MANDATORY as it is required to access essential university systems, including the Postgraduate Web Evalutation and Registration(POWER) system, and U of T email accounts.
Learners MUST activate their UTORid promptly upon receiving their POWER login credentials to ensure seamless access to these services. Additionally, learners have the option of obtaining a TCard, which may be required for certain university resources.
Steps to Activate Your UTORid
Step 1: Log into POWER
- Visit the POWER login page.
- Enter your PIN and temporary password (check the email from postgrad.med@utoronto.ca with the subject line: LOA Sign Off)
Step 2: Retrieve Your UTORid & Secret Activation Key (SAK)
- After logging in to POWER, find your UTORid and SAK at the top right of the Initial View screen in your POWER account.

- If no UTORid is displayed, continue using your PIN and password until one is assigned. UTORids are processed through a nightly upload, check your POWER account daily for updates.
- If the SAK field is blank in POWER, your UTORid has already been activated. Go to Step 4: Check Activation Status.
