AFMC Learner Changemaker Awards

Purpose
This award is intended to recognize an exceptional resident who has created real and meaningful change for those training in Canadian faculties of medicine.
Award
This award will be presented at the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM). Award recipients will be provided with a $1,500 honorarium, full conference registration, reimbursement of economy air or business rail travel, and one night accommodation.
Criteria and Consideration
Each Department of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto is eligible to nominate one resident. Applicants must be registered postgraduate trainees at the University of Toronto for the current academic year. A previous winner cannot be nominated.
The nominations must include:
- Evidence of leadership, advocacy, and collaboration in innovation within their training program
- Evidence of exceptional contributions through engagement in medical education (e.g., including, but not limited to committees, task forces, projects, establishment of new initiatives and prior recognition)
Nomination Process
Each nomination package must have 1 copy of the following:
- Nomination Form (to be completed by the nominator)
- Nomination letter from the Dean of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine outlining the specific contributions of the trainee in the area of leadership, advocacy, and innovation (Letter to be a maximum of two pages)
- Curriculum Vitae
- Nomination package must be submitted electronically in a PDF format
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the Postgraduate Awards Committee. All applicants will be notified of the outcome.
