Gerard Nagalingam is the Manager, Finance and Business Services, PGME. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of all financial and business operations of the PGME office, including the Toronto Hospital Postgraduate Payroll Association (THPPA), which is a $190 million annual payroll operation funded by the Ministry of Health for over 1,800 postgraduate medical residents. Gerard continues to support the financial operations of the Office of the Vice-Dean, Medical Education.
Gerard has been with PGME since 2005 and brings over a decade of progressive leadership experience with a valuable combination of extensive institutional knowledge, financial expertise, and a proven ability to lead through change. He has implemented several important initiatives including PGME’s first structured onboarding experience and the transition to cost-effective online payments, innovative and rapid problem-solving during the COVID-19 crisis, and providing ongoing guidance and mentorship to staff.
