Learners can be evaluated by the University of Toronto Medical Students using the Undergrad evaluation system called MedSIS. Learners complete a teaching evaluation on University of Toronto Postgrad Learner in MedSIS. MedSIS then sends a copy of the evaluation automatically into the POWER system and directly to the program that the postgrad Learner is registered with.
The individual teaching evaluations per Learner are found under the Reports, Trainee Teaching Evaluation menu option while the aggregated Trainee Teacher Effectiveness Score (TTES) report is found by clicking Report, Trainee Effect. Score menu option.
The TTES report is generated provided the minimum number of completed teaching evaluations has been met for the Learner. Once in the Trainee Teacher Effectiveness Score screen, you can view the reports of your Learners by selecting from the criteria listed.
Depending on your selection the system will display for each Learner, the number of total number of teaching evaluations completed on that Learner along with a magnifying glass to view/print the report.
Below is a sample TTES report. The report combines teaching evaluations of rotation services that a teacher taught provided the same teaching evaluation form was used for each of the rotations. The system is not able to generate an aggregated report if the evaluation forms are different.
If there are not enough teaching evaluations for the rotation(s) that the Teacher had completed evaluations for, that is less than the minimum required for a TES report, then the system will display a message indicating this.
If there are enough teaching evaluations to generate a TES then you will see a table with the measures for each question.
The parameters for the TTES report are set under Manage Rotations, Settings menu options. Please refer to this for detailed settings.
The settings for the TTES report are done via Manage Rotations, Settings.
Click on Trainee Teaching Effectiveness Settings parameter and the following screen will appear.
TTES Parameters:
Base Score: The score of the measures can be set as required. 5 is normally set as all evaluations are rating on a 5 point scale.
Minimum Completed Teaching Evaluations to be Reported on: Set the minimum required completed evaluations in order for a TTES to be generated per Learner.
Available to Trainee: Enable/disable TTES report viewing by respective Learners on their POWER screen.
Show Comments to Trainee: Allow/disallow Learners to view comments entered by medical students in TTES.
Show Comments to Admin: Allow/disallow PD and AC roles to view comments in TTES reports.
