Are you interested in becoming an acute care Hospitalist?
Then join the Sunnybrook Hospitalist Fellowship Program and become a better acute care doctor!
Our program is designed to assist physicians in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and expertise that they need to care for acutely ill hospitalized patients. By the end of your Fellowship year, you will be proficient in the management of virtually all adult medical conditions, in performing bedside procedures, and in utilizing enhanced communication skills, and will be knowledgeable in such diverse areas as quality improvement methodologies, patient safety, health law, and advanced clinical ethics. Your clinical experience will include opportunities to work with patients requiring specialized expertise including those with cancer, cardiac disease, neurologic disorders, and perioperative surgical management.
All of our clinical teachers are faculty members in the Department of Family and Community Medicine or in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and they are passionate about clinical teaching! Our comprehensive academic calendar includes daily seminars and rounds focusing on the core knowledge needs of hospitalists and day-long programs in the Hospital’s simulation laboratory to develop the technical and soft skills that you will need to be a successful Hospitalist. Opportunities to acquire research expertise under the mentorship of successful scientists can also be arranged on an individual basis.
The Fellowship is typically for 1 year but may be longer depending on the individual needs of the applicant. Although January and July are the most common start dates, we are also able to accommodate other times if desired.
